#Crazy shipping costs on ebay freeSellers are free to set those shipping prices, buyers should just evaluate the total price and decide on their own if that is reasonable. And no the item isn’t abnormally big or long or anything. Why does eBay default the most expensive possible shipping option?Įdit: just to clarify I know eBay takes a chunk of shipping costs and pockets it but the weight to shipping cost doesn’t add up. (Ended up paying $130 with $80 shipping so I still feel like I got shafted)ĭo some sellers just refuse to negotiate on shipping or something? Happened to me multiple times and it’s annoying as hell. Now I know for a damn fact it doesn’t have to cost $80 to ship a 0.3lb item to Canada from the USA but each time I sent a new price negotiation with a note saying I can ship for like $60 less easily the seller wouldn’t respond. Shipping was around $80 and the item weighed like 0.3 lbs Seller is selling item for $140 (actual value is $100 and I know this for a fact but they are the only person selling one so I was screwed into their price). #Crazy shipping costs on ebay how toYou want to leave because you know it's not right but you don't know how to live any other way so you just accept things for the way they are. What’s up with some shipping prices on eBay? And why do lots of sellers refuse to negotiate shipping prices? Selling on eBay is like being in an abusive relationship. I don't know about you but I wouldn't be too happy losing 50% of what an item sold for! eBay seems to have had a monopoly on the online sales for the longest time, but I heard some of the newer resale sites are pretty good, especially Mecari. If you're selling for someone and charge 20-30% then you factor in ebays cut of the hypothetical 20% and the person you're selling for will be lucky to get 50% of what their item sold for. Then your final value fee and It usually ends up where they take over 20% of your sale in the end. They have really been pushing for "promoting" (seems like you almost have to promote if you want your listing noticed) the item you're selling and that's an extra 7.5% or more "based on the items ad rate and final sale price, tailored to each of your listings to help you find the optimal balance between performance and cost". Especially when you are forced into a managed payment program with no other recourse. So take that for what it's worth, I know now and knowing is half the battle, however eBay kinda sucks when you go to ask them legit questions. Of course finding this out after the fact, there may be a possibility of selecting "pending proceeds" or whatever to cover say Fed ex or UPS. fedex that I believe is billed after delivery.hell, I'm still learning.) USPS you can choose to have it come out the pending proceeds as long as you choose it at the bottom of the purchasing label screen. Sooo for fedex, since I believe it's billed, will NOT be a part of the final fees as I was reassured twice it was. I bought a Fed ex shipping label and come to find out on my own hunting (thank you search engine) I found that the 40 and change for shipping will be billed to me after the fact, at some point. I asked twice and was answered the same, what you see is what you get. #Crazy shipping costs on ebay plusI just asked this very question via chat and was told what the net shows is what will get deposited.so somehow I made an extra 14 bucks.sold something for 210 plus buyer paid shipping.
